The protests against the Day of Honor at the start of this year were a major success. For the first time, we were able to march through the Buda Castle with 300 anti-fascists and at the same time prevent the Nazis from holding their commemoration there for the second year in a row!
\nFurthermore we also created our own counter-events: Saturday morning, there was a commemoration for those murdered during the Shoah, an event that also denounced Hungary’s role in the openly flaunted glorification of National Socialism during the so-called \u201cDay of Honor\u201d. This was organized by five organizations of resistance fighters and victims of persecution from four European countries as well as the international umbrella organization \u201cF\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale des R\u00e9sistants \u2013 FIR\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, Budapest and Hungary remain no easy place for left-wing, anti-fascist protests. While right-wing violence and state repression continue to pose a threat, the Hungarian branch of the Blood and Honour network is once again inviting the global far-right to take part in far-right rock concerts, rallies and the historical revisionist hike \u201cAusbruch 60\u201d from February 7 to 8.
\nGiven the eighty-year anniversary and the possible involvement of the far-right party Mi Haz\u00e1nk Mozgalom (Our Homeland Movement), which has recently cooperated with Legio Hungaria on several occasions, we can assume a major mobilization of the militant right in Europe. While we have successfully prevented the historical revisionist commemoration at Buda Castle in recent years, the hike can continue to take place under the protection of the state.<\/p>\n
Together with our comrades in Budapest, we want to build on the success of previous years in February 2025. We want to continue to occupy the public space in the castle and will continue to pursue our own counter-program, such as commemorating the victims of the Shoah. One thing is clear to us: we will not be intimidated by the wave of repression that has been going on since 2023 and we will not leave the active antifas in Hungary standing alone! We therefore call on you to join us again this year in Budapest. As long as Blood and Honour, Legio Hungaria, Hammerskins, right-wing extremist parties and their sympathizers want to mobilize internationally and \u201ccommemorate\u201d their – fortunately dead – fascist „idols“, there will be anti-fascist resistance.<\/p>\n

Die Proteste gegen den Tag der Ehre Anfang dieses Jahres waren ein gro\u00dfer Erfolg: Erstmals konnten wir mit einem k\u00e4mpferischen Demonstrationszug von 300 Antifaschist*innen durch die Budapester Burg ziehen und dabei verhindern, dass die Nazis ihr Gedenken dort abhalten konnten. Das zweite Jahr in Folge! Neben dieser Verhinderung des Nazi-Gedenkens auf der Burg haben wir es dieses Jahr zudem geschafft, dar\u00fcber hinaus eigene Inhalte zu setzen: Am Samstag Vormittag gab es ein Gedenken an die Ermordeten der Shoah, dass auch die Rolle Ungarns in der offen zu Schau getragenen Verherrlichung des Nationalsozialismus w\u00e4hrend des sogenannten \u201eTag der Ehre\u201c anklagte. Ausgerichtet wurde dieses von f\u00fcnf Organisationen von Widerstandsk\u00e4mpfer*innen und Verfolgten aus vier europ\u00e4ischen L\u00e4ndern sowie dem internationalen Dachverband „F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale des R\u00e9sistants \u2013 FIR“.<\/p>\n
Doch Budapest und Ungarn sind weiterhin kein einfaches Pflaster f\u00fcr linke, antifaschistische Proteste. W\u00e4hrend rechte Gewalt und staatliche Repression weiterhin eine Bedrohung darstellen, l\u00e4dt der ungarische Ableger des Blood and Honour Netzwerkes erneut vom 7. bis 8. Februar die globale extreme Rechte dazu ein, an Rechtsrockkonzerten, Versammlungen und der geschichtsrevisionistischen Wanderung \u201eAusbruch 60\u201c teilzunehmen. Gerade aufgrund des achzigsten Jahrestages und der m\u00f6glichen Involvierung der rechtsextremen Partei Mi Haz\u00e1nk Mozgalom (Unsere Heimat Bewegung), die zuletzt mehrfach mit Legio Hungaria zusammengearbeitet hatte, k\u00f6nnen wir von einer gr\u00f6\u00dferen Mobilisierung der militanten Rechten in Europa ausgehen. W\u00e4hrend wir die letzten Jahre erfolgreich das geschichtsrevisionistische Gedenken auf der Budapester Burg verhindern konnten, kann die Wanderung weiterhin unter staatlichem Schutz stattfinden.<\/p>\n
Gemeinsam mit unseren Budapester Genoss*innen m\u00f6chten wir auch im Februar 2025 an die erfolgreichen Mobilisierungen der vergangenen Jahre ankn\u00fcpfen. Wir wollen uns auch in den n\u00e4chsten Jahren den \u00f6ffentlichen Raum in der Burg nehmen und werden auch weiterhin eigene inhaltliche Schwerpunkte wie das Gedenken an die Opfer der Shoah fortf\u00fchren. F\u00fcr uns ist klar: wir werden uns von der seit 2023 anhaltenden Repressionswelle nicht einsch\u00fcchtern lassen und die aktiven Antifas in Ungarn keinesfalls alleine lassen! Daher rufen wir euch auf, auch in diesem Jahr wieder mit uns nach Budapest zu fahren. So lange Blood and Honour, Legio Hungaria, Hammerskins, rechtsextreme Parteien und ihre Sympathisant*innen international anreisen und ihren – zum Gl\u00fcck toten – faschistischen Vorbildern „gedenken“ wollen, so lange wird es weiter antifaschistischen Widerstand geben.<\/p>\n
